Visual communication is the type of communication that I respond to the most. My belief is that everyone perceives messages in different ways. Images, videos, posters, and graphics are all things that you can see and connect to. Visual communication is also something that I respond to because when having a conversation, it is important to see body language in order to respond to the other individual you are speaking to in the right manner. Without face to face interaction, it is hard to tell the tone and emotions that the other person is feeling.
Color is the necessary tool when dealing with visual communication. If websites don't have an attractive theme, a business is unable to portray a certain message with their audience. It gives individuals viewing the website the tone of the company and a sense of what they are all about. If the website has bright and cheerful colors, the business may be fun and energetic. If the colors are dull and dark, the brand may be more serious and trying to give their viewers a sad or depressed feeling. If the colors are green and earthy tones, the company might be an earth friendly company, clothing brand, or non profit organization. Blue and neutral colors are often colors used with medical fields. If the website is targeted towards a youthful audience, they would typically use yellow to show energy and encouragement.
Target is one large company that demonstrates strong visual communication. Any person can look at the Target logo and know exactly what it is. Their bright red color is attractive, exciting, and urgent. Red is a color that could be used for many areas such as sports, medical emergencies, fashion, and food. Furthermore, Target can connect red with their stores, because you can find almost any of those areas at a local Target store. Target sponsors artists and music video productions such as Taylor Swift, and Marren Morris, while making the color theme red for the audience to see, which is a good advertising technique.
Coca Cola is yet another brand using the color red. It is the color of excitement and power. Since it is such an intense color, it attracts viewers and makes them want a Coca Cola right away. Team members of Coca Cola have also had the advertising idea of "share a coke with a friend." This made customers want to find their name and purchase themselves one, or for heir friend because it was personalized. A very smart tactic. One little thing, such as a name that is visual, can really change someone's perspective of a product.
Finally, McDonald's is known for their golden arch. Like mentioned early in this post, yellow is a color that is youthful and fun. That is what the company wants their customers to know they are all about. It is a family friendly place, and all the children love it. The yellow golden arch can be viewed by the human eye from miles away.
